The units
- Pa·s (pascal seconds): The SI unit of dynamic viscosity.
- cP (centipoise): The everyday unit for oils and fluids; equal to mPa·s.
- P (poise): CGS unit; 100 cP.
- lb/(ft·s) (pounds per foot-second): US customary mass-based viscosity.
- reyn (reyns): US lubrication engineering (lbf·s/in²).
Dynamic viscosity (resistance to flow) is not kinematic viscosity (which divides by density). Water is about 1 cP (1 mPa·s) at 20 °C. The reyn is one pound-force second per square inch.
